Although a native of Canada, John Kerr, Jr. spent his early playing years in the Northern Virginia area.

Sandra Serafini, originally from Hamilton, Ontario, came to North Carolina in 2000 after receiving referee certification (USSF and NCAA) in the state of Washington in 1998 and 1999.

There is this widely accepted notion that in order to play most organized games, including soccer, at the higher levels, one must be introduced to them at the earliest age possible.
